The Story of Kirby Bears

It's all about the Belly Button!

Kirby Bears started in 2014 whilst looking for a new bear for myself, unable to find that perfect bear I received an unexpected Christmas present from my partner, a teddy bear making kit. I was hooked straight away and started designing and making individual handmade collectable bears and the occasional bunny.

My main aim was to create a unique look, instantly recognisable as a Kirby Bear while going back to a more simplistic traditional approach. All my bears are created from individually enhanced patterns so every one is truly one-of-a-kind.

Each bear is traditionally created from Mohair, Alpaca, Harris Tweed or woven felt with co-coordinating paws, English glass eyes, cotter pin or thread joints, firmly filled with heavyweight polyester and occasionally weighted with ball bearings or shot pellets. 

All finished off with a sculptured face, silk embroidered features and not forgetting each Kirby Bear has a gorgeous little belly button. 

Kirby Bears are synonymous with consistently high standards of craftsmanship, making them ideal as an heirloom or memory bear for your family.
